“Butterfly, Butterfly, Fly Away!”

Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you have heard about the latest buzz this week, “Butterfly Marketing”.  I can sum it up in 4 words:

GIVE ME A BREAK!

First of all, let’s define what “Butterfly Marketing” is.  Here’s an excerpt from one of the sites pushing this product:

“…Butterfly Marketing is a theory. It’s the belief that one small change somewhere in the world (even as small as a butterfly flapping it’s wings) can change the course of the future.”

Wow, powerful stuff, right?  Yeah, right.

Basically, it’s about making a small change to your website and “turning it into a viral machine”.

And the home study course will teach you all this for a mere $997.  What?  You can’t afford a one-time payment in this amount?  No problem - they also offer the 3 EZ payment plan.

Folks, save your money for something that will MAKE you money immediately (or almost immediately).  Don’t be a knucklehead and get yourself in debt buying stuff like this.  The only person it helps is the person selling it.

There you have it - straight from the Net KnuckleHead.

When someone questions your opinion, do you start wondering “gee, maybe I *am* wrong about this”? I know I do.

Well, this happened recently when someone questioned my opinion about Butterfly Marketing. They said something to the effect of ‘how can you be so closed minded about it when you haven’t even used it’.

Although that might be valid for some things, I found in my 47 years on this planet that history (and experience) is a great teacher. Experience is what I based my opinion on in this case. And guess what - there have been lots of negative chatter and lots of refund requests for Butterfly Marketing.

According to the talk on the forums I frequent, the included script didn’t even work. Furthermore, sounds like version 2 of the script didn’t work either. At that point, I stopped reading (and caring).

Bottom line - $1000 is a LOT of money to spend on some information and a script that doesn’t work the first time. If I spend that much money, I expect it to have very few bugs.

Okay, enough about the butterflies. I’m going back to my cocoon.
