"GoogleCash"

Unless you've been hiding in a cave for the past year, you probably know that GoogleCash is an ebook about how to use affiliate programs with Google Adwords or other Pay Per Click services to make money.

The concept behind GoogleCash is quite simple. Find an affiliate product (from Commission Junction or Clickbank, for example), sign up as an affiliate, create a Google Adwords campaign with a link to the product sales page, and sit back and collect your big fat commission payments.

But does it work?

My Experience With GoogleCash

One thing the author, Chris Carpenter, does very well is include examples of his successful GoogleCash campaigns.

***** Side Note *****
I'm using the term "campaign" to refer to Google Adword ads. "Campaign" is the language that Google uses, as in a 'marketing campaign'.

I found myself getting very excited about the potential after reading Chris's examples. Plus, the amount of time and effort is very small (which I like A LOT!).

Unfortuately, the successful campaigns that GoogleCash describes are no longer valid because Google and eBay 'closed the loophole' that allowed Chris's idea to succeed a year or so ago.

Nonetheless, the basic approach of finding products and selling them via Pay Per Click is still sound and will work today assuming you find the right product and the right keywords.

My first attempt at following the GoogleCash approach failed miserably. Why? Because I'm a knucklehead of course!

The first thing I did after reading the ebook was search for interesting products at Commission Junction. I also used the Good Keywords software to determine if the product was being searched for on the search engines. (This is before I owned Adwords Analyzer.)

I can't remember what product I decided to try. It may have been electronic robots or remote control cars from Hobbytron. Whatever it was, I signed up as an affiliate and got my link code.

I then went to Google Adwords and created a campaign to advertise my product. Within 5 minutes, I had my first Adwords campaign up and running.

<Go To Top>

Was it successful? Yes and No.

Yes, I sold a few products through Commission Junction. But the Google advertising costs exceeded my commission earnings. Not good.

What I learned from this experience is that you MUST sell HIGH COMMISSION products. I was trying to sell $20.00 robots or cars for a $1.50 commission when my advertising costs were $2.00 or more. How stupid!

Since then, I have attempted to sell Pay Per Lead products and services following the GoogleCash approach (a total flop) as well as Clickbank products (I made about $50).

In Closing

It's funny and weird. You might think that I would give GoogleCash a bad rating based on my experiences. But I'm not because the principles behind GoogleCash are simple and sound.

But be aware that you need to understand how Google Adwords work before you try GoogleCash. If you don't, you run the risk of losing money quickly.

I purchased The Definitive Guide to Adwords but there is plenty of free information on the Internet too.

Overall, I give GoogleCash a rating of 4 out of 5 knuckleheads.

Positives:
- Short but thorough and informative. Love the examples.
- Basic ideas and philosophy are sound.
- I made about $50 selling ClickBank products.

Negatives:
- The examples in the ebook would not work today.
